Another new face between the sticks for the saints as the club struggle with fitness of all registered goalkeepers, Damian Anstiss stood in today which allowed Perry McGrath to return to his usual defensive position.
Staveley started nearly as brightly as there Orange away kit forcing a save in the first minute. For the saints Darnell Smith played a through ball for Nathan Kelly to chase onto but his shot was saved low and forced a corner which was easily cleared. Then came a spell where Staveley found themselves on time, with a number of corners and free kicks before breaking the deadlock on 12 minutes when a hopefully ball over the top was lobbed over the oncoming Anstiss in the saints goal.
At the other end the saints could have hit back as Darnell Smith went on a great run beating 3 but his shot was pushed round for a corner, The saints were now looking on top with Prestyn Moore whipping in corners, Ben Wallis got on the end of a nice saints move but his shot was wayward. Kelly turned provider with Wallis again causing problems and earning yet another corner, Smiths header went over.
Shouts for goal from the saints fans half way through the 1st half as another Moore corner looked like it had gone straight in, only for it to be side netting On 34 minutes the visitors doubled there lead with a free header from a corner 0-2, it was almost 3 minutes later as a corner caused problems for the saints defence but a goalmouth scramble was cleared.
Into the second half, James and Moore were replaced by Baker and Warren, saints stand in keeper Anstiss was forced into early action making a save and distributing out to baker who cut inside and shot over as that elusive goal still didnt come. with 25 left more subs for the saints as all the bench was used, just as it looked like the saints were on the way to pulling a goal back after Baker hit the bar the Saints cursed keeper position struck again as it looked like Anstiss pulled his groin and couldnt get across in time to stop the Staveley shot 3-0 to the visitors, Devon Smith and Corey Clarke forced a couple of late attacks but there was to be no consolation goal
